Eyes Closed

Eyes Closed

Casting shadows through pine,

Light slowly falls to void.

A man dressed in dull grays with red streaks

Lumbers towards an old cabin,

Axe in bruised, bloody hands.

Casting the blade aside, he enters,

Prying open the rickety failing door.

He approaches the occupied bed.

“At last, my eyes can close for tonight.”
